“I don’t do fashion, I am fashion” stated by the icon, the one and only Coco Chanel.

Corpus Christi native and TAMU-CC student, Nick Perez has been a standout due to his promising future in the fashion world. Perez is a self taught make up artist, young entrepreneur and fashion designer who has had the opportunity to showcase his work through photography, in magazines such as Verge, Surreal Beauty, and Gothesque. An impressive feat given his brief time within the industry. Perez has even had 3 runway shows around Corpus for the community to get a glimpse of his work up close and personal.

Perez began experimenting with make up using his favorite brands ABH Cosmetics and Laura Mercier at only 17 years old. However, Perez passion for fashion began at an even earlier age, “I do it all and have been since I was very young- bridal, red carpet, runway, etc. you name it. I want to say I’ve always been designing, I just really didn’t consider it a career until I was 16,” said Perez. His inspiration is still a little blurry but his style is keeping it feminine, classic, and chic with a “touch of nick.” One of Perez’s career milestones include working with Paula DeAnda on a custom piece. “It was so awesome because I grew up singing her music full blast and then one day I was designing for her,” Perez said. “It kind of sparked my love for dressing others. I’m actually working with a few girls from ‘RuPauls Drag Race’ right now on wardrobe at the moment. I’m not saying who, y’all will just have to keep up with NICÓ.” Said the 19 year old designer.

The self taught make up artist and fashion designer has wowed the community with his authentic and aesthetic style and innovative keen eye for fashion.

“Its incredible to see how someone can draw and imagine something so originally and turn it into a reality for others to wear. He’s quite talented.” said business major Stacy Harrison.

With such a promising career at only the beginning of his career, this artist has big plans for the future. “To me, I don’t believe in “short term” plans. I believe every action I take is all to benefit my long term plans,” Perez said. “That being said, I just aim to be happy and successful as anyone else would. I want my brand to go as far as my dreams have made them see. I believe that if you create what you dream, the world will know your art.

I want the world to know my name as an artist. I grew up with very little, so I can’t help that I want the world if I can reach it.”
