There are plenty of great ways to save on travel, even from your phone. I am a huge fan of travel apps that can help me save money. I’ve compiled a list of my favorites to help you travel economically. These apps will help you keep down costs for flights, accommodations, activities, food and more. If you don’t have these apps, be sure to download them for your next trip before the holidays.

You may have a favorite flight-booking website, but this app is better than anything I’ve found online. Even Google Flights isn’t as helpful as Hopper. This is a great tool for pricing flights and figuring out when you should purchase tickets. All you do is put in the dates you would like to fly, and the app will predict the best time to buy and what you can expect to spend.

If you want to get the best rate on a hotel, use the Trivago app. You can compare dozens, or even hundreds on hotels for any location you pick and then choose a good hotel for the best price possible. This saves a ton of time that you might waste on sifting through hotel websites.

Airbnb:

This is a company that allows local people to rent out their homes to travelers. I love traveling this way, because it not only saves a ton of money, but it also lets me immerse myself into the local culture. Every vacation rental on Airbnb is different, but you can often find options to stay in a local family’s home where you’ll get great hospitality and local advice. Plus, if you book early, you can get great rates.

This app is a lot like Hopper, but it gives exclusive discounts to college students. Students are always looking for deals, and this is a great way to save when you go home to visit family or set off on an adventure. One of the best features of this app is that it allows you to select a “flexible dates” option, so you can pick the best price across several departure and return dates.

This one is a lifesaver when it comes to travel plans. The app is based on a popular travel review website. It has reviews and ratings for just about any place you can imagine. I like to use this app to check out peoples’ opinions about hotels, restaurants, bars and activities wherever I go. So many travel websites and magazines are based on paid advertisements these days, so it’s great to get actual opinions from regular people who have been there. This app saves you money because it allows you to see the cost for the activity and whether other people think it’s worth it.

Be sure to check these free apps out, you’ll be amazed by how much cash they can save you. With Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up, we could all use a little extra cash for holiday shopping or for booking your next adventure.
