Going to college can be overwhelming. With busy class schedules, homework, study groups and work, it is easy to feel stressed and neglect other areas of your life that are influential to your overall well-being. Where is the time for exercising and hanging out with friends? 

If you are searching for some endorphins and a break from your study room, TAMU-CC’s Intramural Sports is one of the best ways to get involved on campus, make friends and break a sweat while having fun! It gives you a reason to leave your apartment or dorm room, expand your social circle and stay in shape while relieving some of the stress that a busy class schedule can bring. Studying can take over your life, but a fun extracurricular such as intramural sports can help break you out of a stressful cycle.  

Most students come to a university to obtain educational training in their interested career field. However, companies frequently seek skills beyond those acquired in a classroom. These skills include teamwork, collaboration, communication, time-management and self-discipline. Collegiate athletics, whether it be competitive varsity teams or casual intramural tournaments, contribute to fostering growth in the skills bank listed above. Being a student-athlete requires balancing more obligations but doing so keeps individuals growing physically and mentally while moving forward. Intramurals is a level playing field and a great opportunity for scholarly athletes to compete as part of a team.  

At TAMU-CC, Intramurals are in-house recreational clubs offered to students who want to play sports with lighthearted competition and bring forth opportunity of participating in an organized sports league with friends and fellow colleagues. Our campus offers spike ball, log rolling, ping pong, kickball, dodgeball, indoor soccer, basketball and flag football. Whether the choice is a classic one such as basketball or quirky one like log rolling, the amount of work out is the same. Just think: the same number of calories burned on a treadmill or stationary stair climber is now achievable by scoring a goal with your friends. The field or court is the perfect place to briefly let go of worries about school, release some endorphins and get your blood pumping!

Dodgeball Registration: Oct. 14 – Nov. 7 / Tournament: Nov. 12 – Nov. 15
