May the force be with Star Wars trivia night

The UCP continues to find new and creative ways to help students come together and decompress during finals season with a Star Wars-themed trivia night at the UC Rotunda on Tuesday, Nov. 16.
Students were tested on their Jedi knowledge when it came to lightsabers, Stormtroopers, Luke Skywalker, BB-8, Baby Yoda, and droids. The subjects of the questions included content from the prequels, originals, and sequels.
With this monthly trivia Kahoot night, students were able to de-stress during the semester as finals are approaching. Players completed four rounds of Kahoot and the top three ranked competitors were able to win a prize and compete in the fourth round for the grand prize of a Mandalorian waffle maker.
“We’ve been asking attendees of the previous trivia nights what trivia themes they’d like to see, and Star Wars was by far the most requested topic,” said senior UCP worker Adam Shelton. “I hope the attendees have a fun and exciting night of competition before having to hunker down and study for the end of the semester.”

Several students showed up to the event and received a goodie bag upon arrival filled with snacks, popcorn, Star Wars themed stickers and tattoos. Students had the opportunity to win prizes that ranged from a Baby Yoda blanket, Chewbacca seat belt holder, Star Wars Monopoly, and more. Students also had the chance to wear Star Wars merchandise or a costume to be entered to win a Star Wars hologram lamp.
Cristobol Castro, senior media arts major, is a fan of Star Wars who attended the trivia night with his friends who enjoyed the competition and laughter together.Castro said his favorite Star Wars characters are Kit Fisto, Mace Windu, Darth Maul, Ashoka Tano, Captain Rex, Cad Bane, and Hunter.
“Honestly I may be a fan but I’m not like the biggest craziest fan as much as it pains me to say,” said Castro. “I may love it but I’m still not quite familiar with everything about Star Wars. The goodie bags were cool. I think it’s great, I love it when they have events like these, it makes me feel like I’m not the only one who really likes Star Wars with other people.”
UCP will be hosting their Late Night Breakfast on Dec. 1 from 9 p.m. – midnight at the UC Rotunda. Students will be able to enjoy karaoke, games, winning prizes and eating free breakfast with friends.
