*Trigger Warning: this article pertains to a sexual assault case

Saturday night on March 4, students of TAMU-CC received an email or phone call from the university in regards to a sexual assault that had been reported to the campus’ University Police Department (UPD).

According to the TAMU-CC Code Blue email, “a female resident reported that she was sexually assaulted by a TAMU-CC student in her residence on 03/03/23.” The female reported the assault to the Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) while at a local hospital. The University Police Department is currently investigating the case and trying to identify the suspect.

UPD closes the email with a couple of personal safety tips that students should practice going forward:

“Be aware of surroundings

Do not be alone with individuals you do not know

Report suspicious behavior to the University Police Department.”

Students should take these tips into consideration, as it may help prevent anyone else from experiencing a similar occurrence in the future, or find the suspect involved in this current case.
