The 2023 95th Academy Awards not only had the biggest wins but also great performances and Hollywood stars walking the red carpet.
The Oscars were hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, who opened the show with his monologue stating there were 16 first-time nominees in the acting categories and won the audience over with his slap jokes.
“This is a celebration for everyone here,” Kimmel said. “If any of you get mad at a joke and decide to come up here and get jiggy with it, it’s not going to be easy.” Referencing Will Smith slapping Chris Rock last year on stage at the Oscars.
Performers that night included Sofia Carson, Diane Warren, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Lenny Kravitz, and more. Before the Oscars began, many stars caught people’s attention with their outfit choices.
Rolling Stone captured the best looks from the red carpet of celebrities who knew how to make a statement with their unforgettable looks. Austin Butler’s look had shoulder pads in black with heeled boots, Rihanna came on television revealing her baby bump once again, and Angela Bassett in a purple dress by Jeremey Scott who made the dress. Lady Gaga with an FW23 Versace black dress, Michael B. Jordan in a dapper double-breasted suit, Halle Bailey in a blue fantasy gown, and Jamie Lee Curtis in a Dolce and Gabbana gown. Others included Florence Pugh, Michelle Yeoh, Andrew Garfield, Shawn Mendes, Halle Berry, and more.
