Q: What is your major?

A: I’m an English major with a minor in Pre-Law

Q: How did you first get involved with the Student Government Association?

A: I got involved with SGA in the Fall semester because my friend Lauren mentioned she was their new Nursing and Healthcare Senator, and I might be interested in joining SGA. I went to their first senate meeting and the rest is history!

Q: In your own words, describe SGA.

A: SGA is a student-run organization that acts as the liaison between our university’s faculty and administration and the wishes and concerns of the student body.

Q: What were you doing when you found out you had won the election?

A: I was doing the least exciting thing ever when I found out the results: sitting in my room watching Attack on Titan with my cat.

Q: What did you do after you found out you won the election?

A: The first thing I did after I found out was call my parents. They are 100% my biggest supporters and have been keeping tabs on the election for the entire week. They couldn’t have been happier to receive that phone call!

Q: What changes are you hoping to contribute on campus?

A: I want our university to be more inclusive and equitable for all students. I’ve done similar work like that with SGA in my role as Disability Services Senator when I planned events for Disability Awareness month in March, so doing similar projects on a larger scale is the main goal of my administration, as well as being a more involved SGA overall.

Q: How many terms does a SGA president serve?

A:  I serve one full year term starting May 22nd. Right now, I’m in the transition process to take over for the current president.

Q: What’s your favorite meal?

A: Sushi is definitely my favorite food! I could truly eat it day or night and with zero complaints.

Q: When do you graduate?

A: I graduate next year! I should graduate next Spring 2024 when my term as President ends.

Q: What are you most excited for this upcoming academic year?

A: I’m most excited for Bluesday Tuesday! It’s an SGA event we have in the first week of school where we get to know our fellow Islanders and hand out some cool merch.

Q: Are you attending Izz-fest?

A: I will totally be at  Izz-Fest! You can catch me vibing in the front row. I’ve already added DayGlow to my playlist to pre-game so I’m ready for anything.

Q: What came first, the chicken or the egg?

A: The egg came first. I rest my case.

Q: Do you have a favorite hobby?

A: Reading is my favorite hobby, hands down. I can spend some money at Barnes and Noble if no one stops me.

Q: How can students learn more information about SGA?

A: If students want to know more, just reach out! We have an SGA office in UC 218M, but you can also catch us on our SGA I-Engage, on Instagram @tamucc_sga, or come to any of our great events! Each college has a senator to represent them so you can always find SGA members on campus.

Q: What is your dream career?

A: My dream career is to become an international lawyer with a focus in human and women’s rights.

Q: Do you have to be a political science major to join SGA?

A: Nope, I’m an English major! If you care about TAMU-CC and want to make a positive change on campus for your fellow students, you’re eligible to join. We are still looking for senators to fill our 2023-2024 ranks, so reach out if the student I described sounds a lot like you!

Q: Where do you see yourself five years from now?

A: I see myself in five years attending Georgetown Law, traveling abroad, and living my best life.

Q: Do you have any pets?

A: I have one cat named Theodora, but I just call her Theo. She is a white cat with one blue eye and one green eye and has some real spoiled only child energy, so I don’t see any siblings in the near future.

Q: Are there any events that you are planning during your term?

A: I would love to have some kind of halloween event in the future. SGA hasn’t done something like that recently so I can see us having something fun. Halloween is my favorite holiday so keep an eye out!

Q: What would you like to say to everyone who voted for you?

A: I would like to say thank you to everyone who voted for me. I wouldn’t be on this journey without them, and I truly hope I serve as a president they are proud of.
