After winning the Southland Conference Regular Season Championship, the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi beach volleyball program repeats as the SLC Tournament champions this past weekend at the Dugan Stadium Courts.

The Islanders are now 24-9 and 6-0 in conference. It will be the second year that they will be attending the NCAA Tournament after earning an automatic bid and will be the first time in school history that the Islanders will be making a back-to-back appearance at the Big Dance.

“I could not be [more] proud of the team winning through such adversity this weekend! We had a weather delay that turned into many time changes and I can’t thank Fulton Constructions, TAMUCC SSC, and our incredible administrators enough for us being able to play today,” head coach Gayle Stammer told Islander Athletics.

The program faced No. 4 University of New Orleans (UNO), and played No. 3 Boise State twice during the championship. They won 3-0 during UNO, 3-0 in the second match, and then put up a fight against Boise State 3-1. When the last match ended, sophomore Kela Moreno and redshirt junior Shea Slusser were named pair of the tournament after going 3-0 on court four against their opponents.

The program will be awaiting their seeding during the selection show on April 30 where they will find out who they will face in the NCAA Tournament in Alabama on May 5-7.
