Michael Martin Murphey’s Cowboy Christmas Concert

The 25th Anniversary of Michael Martin Murphey’s Cowboy Christmas Concert returns to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi to deliver good cheer for the holidays on Sunday, Dec. 2, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., as part of the Furgason Bravo! Series at the Performing Arts Center. Michael Murphy’s Cowboy Christmas is a 13-year tradition at TAMU-CC and is known to sell out year after year.
Legendary Texan Michael Murphey is a multiple Grammy award nominee American singer-songwriter with six gold albums. Best known for his 70’s chart-topping pop hits “Wildfire” and genre-bending “Geronimo’s Cadillac,” Murphey’s talented compositions blend elements of country, blues, folk and jazz. Michael Murphey’s Cowboy Christmas performance contains a twist on western holiday classics such as, “Joy to the World” and country holiday hits like “The Cowboy Christmas Ball.” Murphey’s inspirational holiday spectacle appeals to all ages.
According to The Heights Theater Newsletter in Houston, Texas, “Murphey’s treasured Cowboy Christmas concerts explore the humanity and spirituality of the season. Stripping down the highly commercial holiday to its bare essentials in an effort to present a richer more rewarding experience for the audience.”

The Furgason Bravo! Series will continue on Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m. with the Westminster Choir. Recognized as one of the finest choral ensembles in the United States. The ensemble performs regularly with the New York Philharmonic and The Philadelphia Orchestra as well as visiting orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic and the Vienna Philharmonic.
